The morning rush is a constant balancing act in surface treatment. My core task is grouping diverse parts onto racks; each rack must adhere to a strict sequence of chemical baths, with specific dwell times in each. The challenge is the single overhead gantry; it's the bottleneck, moving one rack at a time, which means any delay or mis-timing risks parts being in a bath for too long creating quality issues and potentially creating scrap. Using Penumbra Scheduler, the gantry limitation and bath constraints can be accounted for, ensuring we push our capacity utilization without building up excessive Work In Progress (WIP) in the input buffer, keeping the paint line fed predictably.
